Our Policies

The La Gaviota Tropical is an exclusive Boutique Hotel in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, where every guest reservation is both important and special to us. Please read through our policies below.

Cancellation

If your travel plans change and you must cancel your reservation, please call us at least 7 (seven) days prior to your arrival date to cancel your reservation. In the unlikely event that you must cancel with less than seven (7) days notice, but more than 72 hours in advance of your arrival we will refund 50% of your deposit. Should you need to cancel your reservation less than 72 hours prior to your arrival; shorten your stay or check out early, please understand that we must ask you to take responsibility for your entire reservation. If we can rebook your room(s), a full or partial refund will be made.

A 30 day cancellation notice is required during Christmas December 16 to January 2 and Easter week.

Check-in/Check-out

Check-in is 2 p.m. and check out is 12 noon. A late charge of US$20 for the first hour past noon, US$50 for the second, and 100% after 3 hours.

Smoking

This is a no smoking building. $100US will be added to your bill each day if this is not respected to cover cleaning costs to remove smoke odors from fabrics.

Rates

Rates at our Playa Hermosa Inn are based per room, double occupancy, per night. There is a $25 charge for each extra person in the room over 7 years of age. 13% sales tax is added to the rates. Percentages may change according to Costa Rican law. All rates are in US dollars.

Breakfast

A full breakfast is served and included in room rates starting at 7AM. Guests are free to choose from the menu.

Reservations

All reservations at our Playa Hermosa Bed and Breakfast must contain at a minimum client name, credit card, passport number or ID number, phone number and email address.

Minimum Age

A guest must be 18 years old or over to book a room.

High Season

High season is from January 2 to August 1. The green season is from August 1 to December 15. The holiday season is from December 16 to January 1. The holiday season also includes Holy Week/Easter Week. During Holiday season, a minimum stay of 3 nights is required

Pets

No pets.

Guest Responsibilities

Guests are responsible for personal items, the room key, and items in the room; including bedding that may need to be replaced because of permanent damage.

Room Key

All guests are responsible for the safekeeping of their room keys during their stay. In the event of a lost or misplaced key, guests must notify the front desk immediately, and a $50 fee will be charged to their account at check-out. Room keys must be returned to the front desk upon check-out, and failure to do so will also result in the application of the $50 fee. If a guest needs a replacement key due to loss or irreparable damage, the cost will be $50. Exceptions to this policy may be considered upon providing reasonable evidence for the loss or damage. By checking in, guests acknowledge their understanding of and agreement with this Room Key Policy. We prioritize the safety and security of all guests and the hotel premises, and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Pool Area

All children aged 14 years old or younger must be accompanied by adults while in the pool area. The safety and well-being of our younger guests are of utmost importance to us, and we kindly request parents, guardians, or responsible adults to supervise children in the pool area at all times. This policy is in place to prevent accidents and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. By using the pool facilities, guests agree to adhere to this policy.
